Proposed Church Building Plans

Details of the proposed building works and improvements to St. Anne's church are available here

SYNOD 2020: Meetings for St Anne & St Bernard`s parishioners. The purpose of the Synod is to listen to the views of people throughout the Archdiocese and to pick out the major themes that the Archbishop can act on to bring about the renewal of the Church, and the spreading of the Good News. We now need to make our views known to the Synod through what is called a listening exercise. There is a format for the listening. We meet, and, in groups of four, we speak and, most importantly, listen to each other in answer to four questions. These four questions are: 1 Where, in your everyday life, do you experience love, truth, goodness, hope and joy? 2 When you reflect on your life now, and as you look to the future, what causes you concern or worry? 3 What is the purpose of the Catholic Church in the world today? 4 Having reflected on these things, what are the topics you would like to see on the agenda of Synod 2020? All that is asked of people is that we give this one hour or so of our time to speak truly from the heart, at no great length, and in confidence to those at the table, and to listen with respect to our fellows. We have set aside Saturday 29 June at 1000-1130am for the listening exercise in the parish rooms. For those who cannot attend we will repeat the exercises on Wednesday 3 July 200-330pm, and then again on Saturday 13 July 10001130am.  The comments have to be with the Synod Office by Tuesday 16 July. What happens next? The responses will be recorded anonymously on paper and sent to the Synod Office. The answers from across the Archdiocese will then be analysed and the important issues, or themes, put forward by parishioners will be identified. These Synod themes will then be given to parishes to discuss in the autumn and winter 2019-20. Out of these discussions will come proposals about our Church which the parish will consider in summer 2020, and Synod members will meet together in autumn 2020, and vote on the proposals in the light of the parishioners` views. Parish rep: John Phillips; Pastoral Area reps: Sylvia French, Kusqaum Adam, Terry Phillips. If you want to contact us, talk to us, leave us a note in church, or use a special parish email account which has been created: Synod2020ab1@gmail.com

Update:Synod2020: the exercise for submissions to the Synod is being repeated on Wednesday 3 July at 2pm, and on Saturday 13 July at 1000am in the parish rooms. It takes about an hour and a quarter, and offers a valuable spiritual experience of sharing with and listening to each other in a small group.
